WHY WE SUPPORT HFS…

HFS is more than a new school, more than a collection of individuals. Many schools tout dedicated teachers, talented students, and challenging curriculum. Photos show smiling faces and the best artwork is on display for all to enjoy. The true accomplishment of HFS is not captured in the numerous awards of its teachers (including the 2008 Non-Public Teacher of the Year), nor the extensive accomplishments of its students (including the professional staging of an 8th grader’s play at the Center Stage Young Playwrights Festival). Even the glossy photos of students with lawmakers in Annapolis, camping in Assateague, building inter-generational gardens or conducting student-led business meetings hardly begin to tell the story of HFS.

The real story, the true accomplishment, and in fact, the genuine goal of Harford Friends School is to channel the energy of their young students as each child grows intellectually, physically, emotionally, morally and socially. That energy, that celebration of differences builds confident individuals and strong teams with great respect for others. We support the initiatives at HFS with our volunteer time, our checkbook, and most importantly, our child. In the journey of raising a child today, HFS meets the needs of our whole child, not just her mind. That is the true success of Harford Friends.
