Advisory Program

HFS News & Special Events

Advisory program content (activities and discussions) is centered on a broad theme for the year and many smaller themes within the year. The central theme of the year “A” advisory program is “Who am I?” The year “B” theme is “Who are we?” and the year “C” theme is “What difference can I/we make?” Reference Advisory Themes and Outcomes by Year (Appendix C of HFS Curriculum) for specific examples of themes within each grade.

The bulk of the advisory program is experienced during weekly advisory periods. However, advisers meet with their advise-es at other times during the week for a variety of purposes. Prior to Meeting for Worship, advisory groups gather for a fifteen-minute “centering” activity or discussion. Students meet for Extra Challenge Study Hall with their advisors and/or teachers for additional support or challenge.
