Conflict Resolution

HFS News & Special Events

Guided by the Quaker value of peaceful resolution of conflict, Harford Friends School teaches students to engage conflict with proven strategies, not run from it. Students build the skills to negotiate everyday conflicts independently and effectively. They learn to work collaboratively by analyzing sources of conflict and developing negotiation skills, such as understanding perceptions, listening, brainstorming, and dealing with emotionally charged situations.

In the Lower School, students learn “I–to-I” conflict resolution methods.  The Middle School uses the “Workable Peace” framework for understanding and managing conflict.
