Welcome to the Home and School Association!

On behalf of the Home and School Association (HSA) we would like to extend our warmest welcome to all of you and tell you a little about us.  Our purpose is to promote communication and cooperation among the school community for the benefit of our kids.  We are the reasoned voice of the parents to the administration with the aim to contribute our time and energy to support our school in every way we possibly can.  All parents are welcome and valued at our monthly meetings.  We have targeted 5 ways to achieve our goals.

• Special Events: These include welcoming parties, game nights, September and May school wide community picnics, and our Open Houses.

• Community Outreach Activities: These include participation in Community Education Expos, the Darlington Apple Festival, town parades, and many other activities.  The Christmas parades are especially fun. One year we marched along side of a veggie oil powered alternative energy car and another year we displayed a simple gifts decorated tree for the local wildlife.

• Community Service Projects: Our students presented a Christmas concert to the psych ward patients at Perry Point VA hospital and another time spent a Day of Giving with the Mason- Dixon Community Outreach.  Each winter we sponsor an activity that’s terrific and fun!

• Special Lecture/ Parent Activities Series: Here parents can share their expertise in class workshops on a topic of their choosing.  Lisa taught acting and theater arts; Marianne, sculpting greeting cards; Edwin, photography; Valerie, scrapbooking; and Hugh, an eight week archery program, to name just a few.

And of course,

• Fund-raising: We host the Blueberry Festival in the summer, Barnes and Noble Night in the winter, and the Mother’s Day flower Sale at Broom’s Bloom Dairy in the spring.  Anyone with brilliant ideas?  We’d love to hear them.

It is our sincere hope that all of you will find a home with us in the HSA.  We are learning and growing together.  Join us and have lots of fun accomplishing great things for our community.
