Students will survey a variety of environmental science issues and activities. During the week the class will use a GPS to complete a geo-cache treasure hunt where there are environmental facts and/or activities at each cache. Students will conduct a stream survey and learn the elements of a healthy stream by getting in a stream. We will also investigate native versus alien invasive plants as well as learn how we can attract local birds. (12 participant minimum)

The teacher – Elizabeth (Pokey) Fair earned her BA in sociology and religion and was Phi Beta Kappa at Wake Forest University. Her Masters Degrees are in Sociology from UMBC and in Education Technology from California State University. She received the 2001 Wake Forest Excellence in Teaching Award and was the 2007 Chesapeake Bay Trust Teacher of the Year. She has worked as mentor teacher for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and currently teaches at Sparks Elementary School in Baltimore County.
